Description of Product
This is a one off Kossoff Drive finished in rose gold nitrocellulose lacquer.
The enclosure has been hand prepared and sprayed in thin coats of nitro before being left to cure naturally. The rose gold carries warmth rather than shine. Under light it shifts slightly. In lower light it softens.
There are minor finish imperfections. These are cosmetic only and shown clearly in the photographs. They do not affect the structure of the enclosure or the function of the circuit. Because of this, the price is reduced by £30.
Inside, the circuit is built on military specification tagboard and hand wired point to point. No surface mount parts. No production boards. The layout is deliberate and serviceable.
A blue moulded capacitor forms part of the voicing. It contributes to the upper mid response that gives this circuit its vocal character. The component choice is functional rather than decorative.
Black cupcake knobs sit against the rose gold finish. Subtle. Direct. No distraction.
Every Kossoff Drive is built by hand by Joe Halliday in the UK. Each one is slightly different. This one carries small cosmetic marks and is priced accordingly.
Description of Sound
The Kossoff Drive is about weight and feel rather than saturation.
It pushes an amplifier into its natural compression without masking the guitar. Into a British voiced amp it thickens the lower mids and adds presence without sharpness. Chords remain defined. Notes bloom rather than splinter.
The guitar volume control remains active. Roll back and it cleans in a natural way. Open it fully and the drive becomes dense and vocal.
It responds to picking strength. It does not flatten dynamics. It leans into them.
It works as a foundation overdrive or stacked into something already moving. It supports the amp rather than replacing it.
