Description of Product
This Rangemaster treble booster is built into a sloped enclosure finished in an aged modern art style with lion artwork.
The finish has been deliberately treated to give the surface a slightly worn character rather than a perfect uniform coating. The lion artwork sits within the aged texture which gives the pedal a more object like presence rather than the appearance of a standard stomp box.
Inside the enclosure the circuit follows the traditional Rangemaster architecture and is hand wired on tagboard using the same style of construction found in early amplifier circuits. The layout remains visible and serviceable so the behaviour of the circuit can always be understood and maintained.
At the centre of the circuit sits a NOS gold pin 2N4964 silicon transistor. These devices are known for their stable gain behaviour and consistent performance which suits the Rangemaster topology particularly well. Each transistor is tested and selected before installation.
The circuit is fitted with a three position EQ selector. This allows the boost character to move between the traditional treble emphasis, a broader midrange push, and a fuller range boost. The switch makes the circuit easier to place in different amplifier setups without losing the core character of the design.
Every connection inside the pedal is hand soldered and the entire circuit is assembled slowly with the intention that it remains understandable and serviceable many years from now.
This particular build has been reduced by £50 as part of a workshop clear out.
Description of Sound
The Rangemaster circuit was originally intended to drive the first gain stage of a valve amplifier harder while shaping the upper midrange of the guitar signal.
In the treble position the circuit produces the familiar bright push that tightens the low end and lifts single notes forward in the mix. This setting works particularly well into an amplifier that is already beginning to break up.
The midrange position shifts the emphasis lower which produces a thicker response while still retaining the articulation the circuit is known for.
In the full range position the boost becomes broader and heavier while still maintaining clarity.
The 2N4964 silicon transistor produces a slightly firmer attack than germanium versions of the circuit. Notes arrive with a little more immediacy and the boost can feel more direct when pushing an amplifier.
The circuit still responds closely to the guitar volume control. Rolling the guitar back cleans the signal while leaving the tonal shaping in place. Opening it again pushes the amplifier into sustained lead tones.
Like all Rangemaster style circuits the final result depends strongly on the amplifier it is placed in front of.
Real World Testimonials
Excellent Rangemaster. One of the best and most useful ones I have played.
Reverb feedback
A genius bit of design.
AM Guitar review
A treble booster with a lot to offer all guitarists.
Medium review

This pedal is a single build.
The sloped enclosure, aged finish, and lion artwork will not be repeated in exactly the same way again.
This unit is offered with a £50 reduction as part of a workshop clear out.
If it speaks to you, it is available.
