Description
Built with the grit of a chief stoker and the finesse of a vintage signal chain, the Old Captain Drive is my handwired take on the now-discontinued Fulltone OCD V1 — with a few nautical upgrades of my own.
Each of the 5 pedals in this limited run has been finished by hand, one at a time. No two are the same. From sea-worn lacquer to battleship-inspired textures, every enclosure tells its own story.
Inside, you’ll find the rare Burr Brown OPA2134 op-amp at the heart of the circuit — prized for its clarity, dynamics, and low noise. This isn’t a kit build or a shortcut. It’s a proper, full-fat boutique drive, made the old way, with real through-hole components and a sailor’s stubborn refusal to compromise.

Sound & Performance
Think of a cranked valve amp on the edge — biting but not brittle, with just the right amount of sag and sparkle. The Old Captain Drive gives you that dynamic touch-response that made the OCD V1 famous, but with a little more warmth and musicality, thanks to the Burr Brown op-amp.
Lower gain settings feel tight and focused, perfect for edge-of-breakup rhythm tones. Push it harder, and it opens up into smooth, cutting lead sounds with a hint of hair around the edges — ideal for anything from vintage blues to gritty modern rock.
This isn’t a polite overdrive. It’s got grunt. It’s got headroom. And it plays like an amp.
