Description of Product
This Abbey Road Fuzz is built inside an oversized enclosure finished in rose gold over pink nitrocellulose lacquer with pinup artwork.
The lacquer finish gives the surface a depth that changes slightly under light. Rose gold sits over the pink base coat which creates a warmer tone than a flat metallic finish. The pinup artwork completes the piece and gives it the unmistakable Hello Sailor character.
The enclosure is intentionally larger than a typical pedal. It often leads to the assumption that the space inside must be empty. In this case it is not. The additional room has been used to house large format components and hardware that would simply not fit inside a compact enclosure.
The circuit is hand wired on tagboard using traditional construction methods. The layout remains visible and serviceable in the same way early amplifier circuits were assembled.
Oversized potentiometers are used for the controls which gives the pedal a smooth mechanical feel and long term reliability. The larger components also allow the signal path to remain open and easy to understand.
At the centre of the circuit are gold pin 2N4964 silicon transistors. These devices are known for their stable gain behaviour and consistent response which makes them well suited to this style of fuzz circuit.
The pedal includes a six position EQ selector which dramatically changes how the fuzz interacts with the guitar signal. Rather than remaining locked to one tonal emphasis the selector allows the circuit to move through several different ranges.
The result is a much wider usable range than most fuzz circuits provide.
Description of Sound
The Abbey Road Fuzz was designed to cover a broader range of behaviour than most traditional fuzz circuits.
With the EQ selector set towards the treble end the circuit behaves almost like a treble booster with a light layer of fuzz sitting on top of the signal. This setting works particularly well into an amplifier that is already beginning to break up.
Moving through the selector positions gradually shifts the emphasis lower through the frequency range. The sound moves from a tight cutting boost into thicker fuzz textures and eventually into a full bodied saturated fuzz.
Despite the heavier settings the circuit retains a strong relationship with the guitar volume control. Rolling the guitar back cleans the signal considerably while keeping the tonal shaping in place.
Even with humbuckers the fuzz will pull back into a clear driven tone when the guitar volume is reduced.
With single coil guitars the higher EQ positions can behave almost like a classic treble booster while the lower positions move into wider saturated fuzz textures associated with late sixties recordings.
The silicon transistor arrangement gives the circuit a slightly firmer attack and a stable response while still allowing the pedal to clean up naturally from the guitar controls.
Real World Testimonials
The Abbey Road Fuzz is incredible and super versatile.
The Gear Page
Excellent fuzz. Cleans up beautifully with the guitar volume.
Reverb feedback

This pedal is a single build.
The rose gold nitrocellulose finish, pinup artwork, and the particular combination of components used here will not be repeated in exactly the same way again.
